Elasta was founded in the 1970s by Vince and Nella Cavuoto who started out as suppliers of hair accessories, blow wavers and salon furniture. After being impressed by a presentation at Cosmoprof of an Italian brand of hair colour called Farmavita, which at the time was becoming popular in various parts of Europe, the pair eventually became sole distributors of the brand in Australia. Over the years, Farmavita have established themselves as a company that understands how important the role of research and development is in achieving the best quality product possible. Farmavita professional hair colour is now sold in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, the USA and Canada and is continuing to grow in its popularity, especially in Australia where it is available nation-wide.  

The salon furniture component of the business has also increased dramatically due to the high demand for high quality, affordable furniture. Elasta currently provides a wide range of options for hairdressers, including those working in large salons, small salons, or from home.
