These products were created right from the beginning with 2 aims in mind:
1. to work effectively without the use of formaldehyde
2. to cut the cost of application to the hairdresser and the time of application because a lot of customers cannot afford 3 to 4 hours in a salon to have their hair straightened.

Some manufacturers of these products seem to be addicted to formaldehyde to obtain good results in the hair straightening business. The presence of formaldehyde makes these products effective but unfortunately they are dangerous for the customer as well as the operator leaving the salon owner open to potential lawsuits.

What is happening throughout the world, including Australia, is that straighteners containing formaldehyde are gradually being withdrawn from the market. After these manufacturers have had their products withdrawn, they seem to be scrambling to come up with a new product without formaldehyde. Some of these new products do not work, and those that do work, do so because they still depend on a minimum amount of formaldehyde for their effectiveness.

One-Hour-Straight, without formaldehyde, belongs to a class of straighteners of its own and it has been around long before formaldehyde was the issue it is now. However ONE HOUR STRAIGHT is new to Australia.
